Once when Annā was ill, he was admitted in K.E.M hospital. Most of doctors had given hope and asked us to inform the near and dear ones that he was extremely unwell and may not survive. That very day one of my friend Mr. Ulhāsrāo Bhāte, who is a great devotee of ‘Shree Swāmi Samarth’, arrived there from Aanandnagar. He reassured us that, Annā would be fine. To our dismay, Annā started feeling better and was out of danger and came home. Annā left his mortal body on (Chaitra Shukla Trayodashi), 8 Th April 1998. That very day we received a "Vibhūtī" (Holy ashes) and "Prasad" (The Food offerings partaken by the Lord is offered to devotees as blessings) from ‘Akkalkot’, my wife Sau. Aparnā applied the Vibhūtī on his forehead and within a minute he died. On the 13 Th day after his death, some rituals were taking part in our home, that day too; the "Prasad" came from ‘Akkalkot Samādhi-Math’. We consider this as Swāmi’s grace and not a mere coincidence. That time 'Mr. Rājābhau Vangikar' said that Swāmi himself has sent the sweet "Besan Ladoo" to us to tell us that “to stop mourning and now onwards to get on with the normal life, Annā’s soul is at peace”, we were all touched by his statement. I remember, that from the age of three, I started loving and worshipping ‘Lord Dattātraya’. I used to visit ‘Lord Dattatraya’ temple, perform the "Aarti" (Singing the praise of Lord), ‘Pradakshina’ (To make a circular round to the temple) and chanting ‘Lord Dattatraya’s name lovingly. As a child whenever my parents asked me “What would you become when you grow up”? My answer would be “I would go to Himalayas and do penance”. Of course this has not come true. I started my social work when I was in grade sixth. Later I established an Institute by the name of ‘Nalanda Yuvak Sangh’. The office of this Institute was in our own building. The various functions this institute held were, to help people understand the importance of literacy, to teach them to read and write, cleanliness campaigns, blood collection for blood banks, distribute books and notebooks to poor students, help physically to build roads in villages, celebrate birthdays of poor children and orphans, distribute sweet meats to poor and among patients of ‘Sasoon’ hospital and to clean slums. We also used to clean the places of historical interest namely ‘Shaniwar Wada’ and ‘Simhagad’ fort. We used to teach grade I to grade XII students from slums who were poor. Later for this purpose Late Bhau Bodas had offered us ‘Ramakrishna Ashram’ premises. These students were so poor that they didn’t even have simple clothes to wear. My professor of Logic, 'Sir Vijay Kārekar' from S.P’s College was the one who donated clothes to these students. |
